Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain resilient and scalable features across Toast’s enterprise products.
- Lead complex projects spanning multiple teams and systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX, QA, engineers, and customers to develop new features and products.
- Drive high-quality technical decisions, provide design feedback, and participate in code reviews.
- Champion software development lifecycle and continuous integration/continuous delivery best practices.
- Build automated tests and ensure reliable, high-quality applications reach production.
- Roll out features to customers and monitor production success or failures.
- Mentor and coach peer engineers.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building backend services and RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or Kotlin.
- Hands-on experience building fault-tolerant, highly scalable, and secure distributed systems.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases and understanding of distributed data stores.
- Strong foundations in data structures and algorithms.
- Deep understanding of testing, software quality, and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Experience testing applications and delivering reliable software to production.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or similar.
- Excellent communication skills for discussing complex technical topics across teams.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience building Android applications is preferred.
