Responsibilities
- Design and own secure, scalable services while guiding technical decisions and balancing reliability, performance, cost, and AI-related trade-offs.
- Architect and deliver LLM integrations, multi-step agentic workflows, tool-use patterns, RAG pipelines, and intelligent automation.
- Use Claude Code and agentic coding workflows to accelerate development while critically reviewing AI-generated outputs.
- Advise on appropriate AI use, prompt patterns, ethical and privacy considerations, compliance checks, residual risks, and mitigations.
- Coach peers on engineering best practices, prompt engineering, responsible AI, and AI-augmented development approaches.
- Partner with Product, Security, DevOps, and other teams on features, deployment, governance, and compliance.
- Pilot emerging tools and frameworks, integrate automated governance checks, and improve observability and incident response.
- Build modern component-based web interfaces with React and services and APIs with Node.js and TypeScript.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of professional software engineering experience delivering secure, scalable services in an agile environment.
- Understanding of high-level LLM concepts, including hallucinations, prompt sensitivity, and safe versus unsafe AI use cases.
- Experience using AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, and prototyping with critical review of outputs.
- Prompt engineering experience, including designing reusable prompts and coaching peers.
- Awareness of ethical and cost risks such as bias, privacy, and vendor lock-in, with experience embedding basic compliance checks into workflows.
- Proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript for APIs using OpenAPI and hands-on experience with AWS serverless patterns.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using CDK or Terraform, containerization with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
- Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases, including schema design and performance optimization.
- Ability to apply security best practices in code and deployments, including IAM and secrets management.
- Strong React proficiency for building modern, component-based web interfaces.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical and AI-related concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to mentor or guide peers on engineering practices and AI-augmented workflows.
