Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of Azure Compute Fleet capabilities orchestrating Virtual Machine Scale Sets across multiple Azure regions.
- Design distributed control-plane services, APIs, and orchestration workflows for capacity placement, scaling, failover, and lifecycle management.
- Drive adoption of AI and Agentic AI for engineering workflows, operational automation, diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and productivity.
- Partner with Azure Compute, Capacity, Networking, and Platform Services teams on architecture and end-to-end delivery.
- Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual, participate in on-call rotations, lead live-site mitigation, and improve reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other applicable security screening requirements.
- Preferred: master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: 4+ years designing, building, and shipping high-quality system software.
- Preferred: experience building highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems, cloud services, platform infrastructure, control-plane systems, or hyperscale backend services.
- Preferred: experience using AI, machine learning, large language models, or Agentic AI systems to improve productivity, operations, diagnostics, or customer experiences.
