Base Salary
$175k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize LLM-powered models for document processing, data extraction, and permit workflow automation.
- Develop retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and search systems for jurisdictional and regulatory data.
- Prototype, fine-tune, and evaluate pre-trained models for NLP tasks including classification, entity recognition, and summarization.
- Build scalable ML infrastructure and backend services that integrate models into production AI-agent systems.
- Work with large structured and unstructured datasets to improve indexing, retrieval, and contextual accuracy.
- Own experimentation, deployment, monitoring, evaluation, and iteration across the full ML lifecycle.
- Balance ML, retrieval, and rule-based approaches to deliver reliable AI features.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and domain experts on ML-powered solutions for pre-construction challenges.
Requirements
- 5+ years of machine learning engineering experience, including production ML experience.
- Deep expertise in NLP and LLMs, including OpenAI GPT, Claude, and Hugging Face models.
- Experience building retrieval and vector search systems with tools such as FAISS, Elasticsearch, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
- Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- A strong track record of deploying and scaling ML systems with measurable business impact.
- Experience with cloud ML infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong system design and architectural thinking with a focus on shipping and rapid iteration.
- Ability to operate with high ownership and autonomy in a fast-moving startup environment.
