Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain backend services, APIs, and databases for the scientific discovery platform.
- Contribute to frontend features and workflows in collaboration with designers and frontend engineers.
- Build and extend data pipelines supporting AI agents and research workflows.
- Implement monitoring, observability, automated testing, and reliability improvements.
- Troubleshoot issues across the stack and collaborate with engineering, design, and research teams to ship AI-driven features and services.
Requirements
- Typically 3+ years of software engineering experience with backend and frontend exposure.
- Strong proficiency in a backend language such as Python or Node.js; Python proficiency is required for the interview process.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs, including FastAPI; GraphQL experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with React, Next.js, or similar frontend frameworks and modern web development practices.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar databases.
- Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerized environments such as Docker; Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and basic automated testing.
- Curiosity, a growth mindset, and eagerness to learn in a fast-moving environment.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with data-heavy systems, scientific tooling, ML/AI-adjacent platforms, startups, or small teams with end-to-end ownership.
