Base Salary
$130k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to reusable systems that ingest, move, and serve data across Vercel.
- Work with Kafka and streaming tooling to support real-time data movement.
- Build monitoring, alerting, and observability capabilities.
- Develop internal tools and abstractions across ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake.
- Develop platform features and fixes with increasing independence and incorporate code-review feedback.
- Help implement access controls, data protection, and compliance practices.
- Gain exposure to platform architecture and build-versus-buy decisions supporting analytics and AI/ML workloads.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in data engineering, backend or infrastructure engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Programming proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, Go, or a similar language.
- Exposure to or strong interest in distributed systems and streaming or event-driven architecture, such as Kafka.
- Comfort with SQL and interest in storage and query systems such as ClickHouse or Snowflake.
- An infrastructure-oriented approach focused on building foundational systems.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, including working with senior engineers and iterating on feedback.
