Base Salary
$141k - $194k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and scale distributed backend services and infrastructure using Java and Ruby.
- Design and maintain high-throughput data streams and message queues with Apache Kafka.
- Optimize PostgreSQL databases through schema design, indexing, query tuning, and transactional data modeling.
- Develop intelligent backend features and workflows using modern AI technologies.
- Build and maintain interactive frontend components using React.
- Collaborate with product, design, and architecture teams on service-oriented architecture.
- Own production services, including deployment, observability, monitoring, and distributed tracing.
- Write robust, well-tested code following Test-Driven Development principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical work experience.
- At least 5 years of backend development experience using Java and object-oriented programming fundamentals.
- Experience designing, building, and operating event-driven distributed systems with Apache Kafka.
- Deep technical proficiency with PostgreSQL, including indexing, query optimization, and schema design.
- Experience with React and modern JavaScript or TypeScript is a plus.
- Experience building software with AI capabilities or integrating AI technologies into development workflows.
- Strong knowledge of microservice architecture, RESTful API design, and Test-Driven Development.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs among performance, scalability, and business goals.

- Base pay range is $140,960.00–$193,820.00 USD annually.
- May be eligible for equity compensation and/or bonus incentive compensation.
