Base Salary
$230k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and long-term technical vision for scalable core platform services.
- Lead complex cross-team initiatives from concept through production and document high-stakes technical trade-offs.
- Write and review critical backend code while setting standards for quality, maintainability, security, and performance.
- Drive infrastructure automation, observability, monitoring, alerting, reliability targets, and incident response practices.
- Partner with product, security, compliance, and customer-facing teams to translate requirements into platform capabilities.
- Mentor Senior and Staff engineers and develop technical leadership across the team.
- Lead technical reviews, architecture decisions, and durable technical documentation.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for production issues, root cause analysis, and systemic fixes.
- Evaluate emerging generative AI technologies and make build-versus-buy recommendations.
- Contribute to engineering planning by scoping, sequencing, and de-risking major milestones.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience designing, shipping, and operating a generative AI application or platform in production at scale.
- Deep expertise in Python, working proficiency in TypeScript or Java, and hands-on experience with Go or Rust.
- Experience architecting secure, resilient, and observable distributed systems, microservices, and APIs.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Strong command of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability tooling.
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Technical leadership experience across teams, including architecture influence and mentoring engineers.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, executives, and customers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and judgment in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Ability to work onsite in the Palo Alto offices three days per week.
- Preferred experience includes GCP and familiarity with all three major cloud providers, AI/ML platforms, LLM serving, evaluation and monitoring, regulated environments such as HIPAA or SOC 2, frontend technologies, healthcare, and early-stage engineering team building.
