Base Salary

$149k - $199k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend systems and solutions.
  • Build scalable and reliable RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Design and implement microservices, distributed systems, and serverless event-driven architectures.
  • Optimize system performance and reliability and troubleshoot issues through rapid iteration.
  • Deploy and manage applications on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop automation, CI/CD pipelines, and release management processes using Jenkins scripting.
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, MongoDB, Redis, Hibernate, and JPA.
  • Implement comprehensive testing strategies with JUnit and Mockito.
  • Use Datadog, CloudWatch, and ELK for monitoring, observability, centralized logging, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in code reviews and design discussions, and deliver products according to functionality, scalability, reliability, schedules, and testing goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • One year of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • One year of experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using object-oriented design and Java.
  • One year of experience building scalable and secure RESTful APIs with Java Spring Boot.
  • One year of experience with microservices and distributed system architecture.
  • One year of experience establishing automation, CI/CD pipelines, and release management using various systems and Jenkins scripting.
  • One year of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, MongoDB, Redis caching with fallback mechanisms, and Hibernate/JPA optimistic locking.
  • One year of experience with serverless event-driven architectures, auto-scaling, and AWS application deployment and management.
  • One year of experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization and orchestration.
  • One year of experience with unit testing using JUnit and Mockito.
  • One year of experience with Datadog, CloudWatch, and the ELK stack for monitoring and observability.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance, and PayPal’s balanced hybrid model generally offers three days in the office and two days at the office or home workspace.
  • The position is based in San Jose, California, with a Monday-Friday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 0% travel.
