Base Salary
$102k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver multi-quarter initiatives that modernize core build tools, services, and workflows.
- Diagnose complex failures across build orchestration, toolchains, infrastructure, dependencies, and artifact production.
- Partner with product and Engineering Systems teams to integrate workflows while protecting compatibility, scale, and operational continuity.
- Define measurable success criteria, telemetry, and operational signals for regressions and customer impact.
- Advance secure software-supply-chain practices including dependency governance, provenance, artifact integrity, and compliance automation.
- Use and improve AI-assisted engineering workflows for investigation, implementation, review, and operational response.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and project leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C++, C#, Java, or TypeScript, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience with Windows internals, native development, C++, C#, PowerShell, MSBuild, BuildXL, Bazel, distributed build execution, or distributed caching.
- Preferred experience with developer infrastructure, build systems, compilers, CI/CD platforms, dependency management, Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, or large-scale distributed services.
- Preferred experience designing, building, operating, or modernizing production software services at scale, including incident response, reliability, and compatibility.
- Preferred experience with Kusto/KQL, Azure Data Explorer, Application Insights, or similar telemetry and diagnostic tools.
- Preferred experience leading complex technical initiatives, communicating technical tradeoffs, mentoring engineers, and applying secure development, software-supply-chain, and responsible AI-assisted development practices.
