Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship backend services and platform capabilities supporting AI-powered Jira Service Management experiences.
- Productionize machine learning models, signals, ranking, decisioning, and evaluation flows with ML, data, and product partners.
- Own scoped projects end-to-end from technical design through rollout, validation, and post-launch improvements.
- Improve service reliability, observability, performance, and operational readiness.
- Use data, experiments, metrics, and production signals to evaluate impact and guide engineering decisions.
- Participate in code reviews, improve documentation and technical patterns, and collaborate across product, design, platform, and data teams.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience building backend applications or platforms in production environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong programming skills in one or more of Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or Scala.
- Experience designing and operating scalable distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and event-driven or asynchronous architectures.
- Hands-on experience delivering machine learning, AI, or data-powered capabilities into production software.
- Experience with data pipelines, feature or signal integration, model-serving patterns, evaluation frameworks, or production inference workflows.
- Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases and storage systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and practices for building secure, observable, and reliable services at scale.
- Ability to use metrics and evidence to assess quality, performance, and customer impact.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional environments.
