Responsibilities
- Design, develop, execute, troubleshoot, and maintain secure, high-quality IBM i software solutions.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts and ensure software code meets design constraints.
- Work with large and diverse datasets to create visualizations and reports that improve software applications and systems.
- Identify technical problems and data patterns to improve coding hygiene, system architecture, and technical debt.
- Use enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Support software engineering communities of practice and explore emerging technologies.
- Provide resiliency and maintenance support, including HA/DR, PTF management, performance tuning, and production support.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on IBM iSeries (AS/400) development experience with DB2 for i files, views, indexes, triggers, and stored procedures.
- LANSA or Visual LANSA IDE development experience, including LANSA upgrade planning and execution.
- Experience with IBM MQ, CDC Replication, InfoSphere CDC, IIDR, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience with Java and Python on IBM i in the PASE environment.
- Experience with IBM i debugging tools and techniques including STRDBG, STRISDB, service entry points, job logs, Visual Explain, and remote Java/Python debugging.
- Experience with Git version control, Bitbucket or GitHub, Aldon LMI, Robot Scheduling, and ServiceNow.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude agents, or similar AI-powered tools, including prompt engineering for legacy code analysis.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, security, AI governance, and data privacy.
- Preferred proficiency in CLP, CLLE, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, LANSA, and Visual LANSA IDE development.
- Preferred experience with ILE concepts, service programs, modular application design, REST or SOAP web services, IBM i Access Client Solutions, Navigator, IBM Rational Developer for i, VS Code, and Code for IBM i.
- Preferred hands-on experience with HA/DR tools such as MIMIX, iTera, Quick-EDD, or IBM PowerHA.
- Preferred ITIL foundation knowledge, AI integration into CI/CD or automated code review workflows, SAFe or other scaled Agile frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines in an IBM i context.
