Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the mobile test strategy and pragmatic test pyramid for React Native.
- Define coverage, reliability, speed, and release-readiness standards for mobile.
- Build and maintain mobile E2E automation in Maestro, including test data, device configuration, helpers, and reporting.
- Integrate automated test suites into GitHub Actions for pull requests and release candidates.
- Reduce test flakiness and time-to-diagnosis through root-cause analysis, parallelisation, artefact management, and runtime control.
- Use AI tools for test authoring, failure clustering, coverage insights, and proposed fixes while maintaining trustworthy tests.
- Shape AI-assisted testing workflows, including prompts, guardrails, and review patterns.
- Partner with product and engineering on shift-left quality, specifications, acceptance criteria, and risk identification.
- Use Datadog, Sentry, and Grafana to connect production issues and observability data to test coverage.
- Perform targeted exploratory testing for high-risk releases when appropriate.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in quality engineering or test automation, with a record of maintaining stable automated test suites.
- Experience introducing AI-assisted testing practices such as test generation, failure clustering, and coverage analytics with sensible review controls.
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills for building helpers, tooling, and application debugging workflows.
- Experience shaping CI/CD pipelines for test reliability, including flakiness reduction, parallelisation, artefact management, and runtime control.
- Comfort with mobile E2E automation, or strong E2E experience on another platform with a credible plan to become productive on mobile quickly.
- Ability to work independently and drive improvements across frameworks, CI, test data, and reporting.
- Hands-on experience with Maestro or Detox is desirable.
- Hands-on experience testing React Native applications is desirable.
- Mobile performance and reliability experience, including crash reporting, startup time, memory, and battery awareness, is desirable.
- API and contract testing experience, including perspectives on test data and environment strategy, is desirable.
