Responsibilities
- Own the data-focused test strategy and automation architecture across ETL/ELT validation, source-to-target reconciliation, functional, end-to-end, BDD, and performance testing.
- Build and maintain Python test frameworks, BDD feature suites, SQL assertion libraries, and pandas/PySpark utilities for data comparison, profiling, and reconciliation.
- Design and govern JMeter performance plans for application and data layers, including pipeline throughput, load-window adherence, and large-volume query response.
- Validate raw, staged, and curated data layers in Snowflake and PostgreSQL, including business logic, row counts, control totals, referential integrity, deduplication, late-arriving data, slowly changing dimensions, and idempotency.
- Test orchestration behavior, retries, partial-load recovery, backfills, incremental and full loads, failure alerting, schema evolution, and upstream/downstream data contracts.
- Create synthetic and masked production-like datasets covering edge cases, malformed files, nulls, boundary values, and historical restatements.
- Define and report data quality rules and SLAs for completeness, accuracy, timeliness, uniqueness, and conformity.
- Analyze defects to distinguish source-data issues from transformation and orchestration failures, and participate in incident responses and quality reviews.
- Produce test strategies, defect trend analyses, and quality reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor junior QA engineers, promote quality practices, influence technical decisions, and evaluate AI-powered testing tools.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software quality engineering experience, primarily focused on data-centric testing involving ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and reporting or consumption layers.
- 4+ years of end-to-end data pipeline or ETL/ELT testing experience, including source-to-target mapping, reconciliation, data quality rules, and root-cause analysis.
- Expert-level SQL experience, including complex and tuned queries against Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and MySQL with joins, window functions, CTEs, aggregations, and set operations.
- Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse, preferably Snowflake, including stages, streams, tasks, time travel, clustering, and query-profile analysis.
- Working knowledge of Airflow, dbt, AWS Glue, Step Functions, or equivalent pipeline orchestration and transformation tools.
- Python data-handling experience with pandas, PySpark, or equivalent tools for scalable comparison, profiling, and reconciliation utilities.
- Experience with Great Expectations, dbt tests, Soda, or equivalent in-house data quality frameworks.
- 3+ years of UI and API test automation using Selenium WebDriver or Playwright and Python.
- Deep BDD expertise, including framework design, Gherkin authoring, step-library architecture, and living documentation.
- Proven JMeter experience covering test-plan design, distributed execution, and results analysis.
- Experience in AI-augmented or agentic development and testing environments such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or AWS Bedrock.
- Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, accountability, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Healthcare or life sciences experience, especially pharma commercial data, is advantageous.
- Experience designing in-house test automation or data validation frameworks and team-leading experience are advantageous.
- Ability to work flexible hours and collaborate with US, India, and Colombia teams.
