Base Salary

$152k - $209k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, develop, and debug software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices.
  • Build maintainable, tested software components with clear APIs, interfaces, and separation of concerns.
  • Work across data ingestion, computation, APIs, and user-facing functionality, including numerical, time-series, and sensor data.
  • Investigate performance bottlenecks, resource utilization, software problems, and root causes using data and profiling.
  • Develop software documentation, test procedures, design records, experiments, and implementation decisions.
  • Translate research papers, technical specifications, and ambiguous problem statements into working software.
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, domain experts, and internal customers to understand requirements and communicate technical tradeoffs.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Python beyond prototype scripting.
  • Experience writing maintainable, tested code with clear APIs and sound engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, Polars, SciPy, numerical data, time-series data, statistics, and signal-processing concepts.
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, computational thinking, debugging, operating systems, memory, concurrency, data layout, I/O, networking, performance, and scalability.
  • Ability to contribute to production codebases, services, or tooling and work effectively in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Familiarity with testing, version control, code reviews, and collaborative software development.
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field is a strong plus.
  • Preferred experience includes research implementation, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, Rust, C++, C, high-performance computing, profiling, optimization, or low-level debugging.
  • Preferred domain experience includes semiconductor manufacturing, plasma processing, spectroscopy, fault detection, endpoint detection, or noisy real-world sensor and instrument data.
  • Preferred data experience includes SQL, Arrow, Parquet, dataframe-based pipelines, large-scale data processing, TypeScript, React, Tauri, or Electron.
