Base Salary
$110k - $146k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software services supporting Workday Finance capabilities.
- Own complex technical problems from requirements and architecture through implementation, production deployment, and ongoing support.
- Design backend services, APIs, data models, and distributed systems for financial transactions, accounting, billing, revenue, reporting, and related workflows.
- Build resilient, high-volume transaction-processing systems with appropriate handling of failures, retries, duplicates, reconciliation, performance, availability, and reliability.
- Partner with Product Management, Architects, Engineers, QA, and Finance subject-matter experts to translate requirements into technical designs.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability, performance, observability, monitoring, and logging.
- Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews, code reviews, continuous improvement, and technical-debt reduction.
- Contribute to CI/CD, DevOps, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of complex systems.
- Strong programming experience in one or more modern languages such as Java, Python, C++, Go, or similar.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Experience designing distributed systems and scalable backend services.
- Strong experience with service-oriented or microservice architectures and asynchronous or event-driven systems.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience.
- Experience with cloud technologies, automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and production support.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical, scalable solutions.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with ERP, Finance, accounting, billing, revenue, or financial management software.
- Preferred understanding of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, revenue recognition, accounting periods, financial reporting, reconciliation, auditability, and data integrity.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Azure, GCP, high-volume transaction systems, distributed messaging, multi-tenant SaaS, and enterprise SaaS environments.
- Preferred demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience.
