Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance software for Cisco Nexus data center switching platforms.
- Lead medium-to-large feature development from requirements and design through testing and deployment.
- Collaborate with architects and technical leaders on software solutions, architecture, and technical roadmaps.
- Work with hardware, verification, system test, and product management teams on networking products.
- Conduct technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Analyze and resolve complex software, system, integration, customer-reported, and production issues.
- Write scalable, reliable, performant, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Develop unit tests and support system-level validation using traffic generation and validation tools.
- Contribute to development automation, process improvements, and engineering best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies while working independently on assigned deliverables.
- Stay current with networking, cloud infrastructure, and data center architecture trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related experience, master's degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years.
- Strong programming skills in C and/or C++ and proficiency in Python.
- Experience with embedded software development and/or networking software for routers and switches.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using tools such as GDB.
- Hands-on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols and packet forwarding technologies.
- Experience with ACL, QoS, CPU packet paths, forwarding pipelines, and networking software architecture.
- Experience with software development lifecycle practices, version control systems, and Agile development methodologies.
- Experience using traffic generation and validation tools such as IXIA and Spirent.
- Preferred experience with SDK development and integration on networking ASICs, NPUs, or DPUs.
- Understanding of data center networking technologies and Ethernet switching architectures.
- Experience with packet forwarding ASICs, network processors, hardware-software interaction, and production networking SDK optimization.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives and own features across multiple development teams.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional global teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to their technical growth.
- Experience with AI/ML networking, cloud-scale data center technologies, or high-performance networking solutions is a plus.
