Responsibilities
- Own assigned initiatives from raw ingestion through bronze, silver, certified gold, production deployment, and operational handoff.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, self-healing pipelines ingesting data from PMS, CRM, financial, IoT, web/mobile analytics, and third-party systems.
- Develop and operate the Databricks-based Data Marketplace with strong governance, validation, data quality, and AI/ML readiness.
- Build analytical and AI-oriented data models, including feature stores, embedding pipelines, and real-time serving layers.
- Implement automated testing, lineage tracking, anomaly detection, regression testing, monitoring, alerting, SLA tracking, and data freshness guarantees.
- Build and maintain MCP server integrations, APIs, and data interfaces for LLM-powered tools, AI agents, and internal products.
- Partner with Data Science and Product teams to operationalize ML models through training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring infrastructure.
- Evaluate AI-enabled data tooling and collaborate on AI integration patterns, prompt engineering, and development practices.
- Implement data governance, access controls, PII handling, data classification, compliance, and AI governance practices.
- Document data models, pipeline architectures, and integration patterns for reuse and self-service across engineering and analytics teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional data engineering experience building and operating production data platforms.
- Deep expertise with Databricks, Spark, or similar distributed data processing frameworks.
- Strong SQL, Python, data modeling, key and grain definition, referential integrity, data quality, and analytical schema experience.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Databricks Workflows.
- Experience with cloud data platforms including ADLS, Synapse, or Azure ML; AWS or GCP experience is also acceptable.
- Experience with relational back ends such as Postgres.
- Experience building ML data infrastructure, including feature stores, training pipelines, embedding generation, and model serving.
- Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases such as Pinecone or Weaviate, and MCP or tool-use frameworks.
- Understanding of low-latency AI data serving, data provenance, bias detection, and responsible AI data practices.
- Experience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, dbt or similar transformation frameworks, Git, Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools, and data observability platforms.
- Preferred experience in real estate, property management, financial services, or asset management; heterogeneous multi-source data environments; and data products serving multiple business units.
- Ability to work independently through ambiguity, adapt across projects, communicate architecture decisions clearly, document work, and deliver production-grade systems.
- Candidates are encouraged to provide a short video demonstrating use of AI tools in an engineering workflow and a side-project example.
