Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development applying AI and machine learning techniques to database management systems.
- Develop algorithms for query planning, indexing, storage management, workload prediction, and scheduling.
- Collaborate with data infrastructure and engineering teams to integrate AI models into production systems.
- Analyze large-scale database workload datasets to identify optimization opportunities.
- Publish findings in conferences and journals such as VLDB, SIGMOD, ICDE, and NeurIPS.
- Contribute to open-source projects or internal tools supporting AI-enhanced databases.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field focused on databases, systems, or machine learning.
- Strong publication record in accredited venues related to AI for databases, including SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, or NeurIPS.
- Strong background in database internals, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, modern cloud-native databases, or Big Data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as XGBoost, LightGBM, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Preferred proficiency in Python, C++, or Java.
- Preferred experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud database platforms.
- Preferred familiarity with LLMs, reinforcement learning, neural architecture search, or automated database tuning.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
