Responsibilities
- Deliver backend engineering work involving compliance maintenance, cost savings, observability, experiment cleanup, and operational tooling.
- Design, build, maintain, test, document, deploy, and operate scalable, performant, and reliable backend services.
- Contribute to system architecture and mid-level technical design.
- Validate solutions through data and experimentation where appropriate.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
- Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, data scientists, designers, and other cross-functional partners.
- Clarify requirements and translate them into maintainable implementations.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional, backend-focused software development experience.
- Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin and experience with Spring Boot.
- Proficiency with MongoDB Atlas and Aurora MySQL on AWS.
- Experience building cloud-native distributed systems on AWS.
- Experience developing GraphQL APIs using Netflix DGS.
- Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance, resilient systems on a major cloud platform.
- Strong English communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Enterprise experience is strongly preferred.
- Nice-to-have experience includes Apache Kafka, Amazon SQS, Terraform, gRPC, REST APIs, microservices development, and AI-assisted coding.
Benefits
- Remote contract engagement for 40 hours per week.
- Candidates must be based in LATAM and provide US Central Time coverage.
