Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of a multi-market storefront using Next.js and TypeScript.
- Choose rendering strategies and design end-to-end caching across CDN, edge, browser, and application layers.
- Own performance optimization across bundle size, hydration cost, time to first byte, and regional delivery.
- Build and maintain Node.js orchestration layers connecting the storefront with commerce services through REST or GraphQL.
- Implement multilingual, multi-currency catalog and pricing experiences.
- Develop and iterate on payment and checkout flows using payment gateways and digital wallets.
- Support A/B testing and analytics tracking.
- Maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage and healthy CI/CD pipelines.
- Support logging, monitoring, rollback procedures, and operational excellence using AWS where applicable.
- Mentor mid-level engineers and collaborate with Gradion and client engineering teams.
- Experiment with AI developer tools including Cursor, Claude, and Copilot.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience building production web applications at scale.
- Strong command of TypeScript, React, Next.js, JavaScript, and browser fundamentals.
- Backend experience with Node.js and REST or GraphQL APIs, including storefront-commerce orchestration.
- Strong understanding of rendering and caching strategies and their trade-offs.
- Hands-on experience deploying to CDN or edge platforms such as Cloudflare, Vercel, or CloudFront.
- Working exposure to AWS services such as Lambda and S3.
- Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Good spoken and written English for daily technical discussions, architecture sessions, and pairing with European engineers.
- Willingness to learn the Shopify ecosystem.
