Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture and roadmap for the search platform, including distributed indexing pipelines, storage infrastructure, and high-performance web servers.
- Improve search relevance through signal engineering and better data models.
- Maintain performance and reliability as data volume and query traffic grow while managing technical and business risk.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other teams to drive initiatives.
- Build functional prototypes for internal and external use cases.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and raise the team’s technical capabilities and quality standards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building applications in high-level programming languages, particularly Python and JavaScript.
- Deep backend expertise with customer-facing search solutions and hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, or OpenSearch.
- Experience orchestrating batch and streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, and AWS Lambda.
- Knowledge of compute or data-processing engines such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, or Ray.
- Strength in AI, Natural Language Processing, ranking systems, or recommendation systems.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, networking, and operating systems, plus familiarity with programming tools, frameworks, and development practices.
- Ability to write testable, maintainable code using SOLID principles and communicate technical concepts effectively to cross-functional stakeholders.
