Responsibilities
- Lead the backend engineering function and provide technical leadership for the cloud platform and Java-based microservices product.
- Design, develop, implement, and test modular, maintainable, well-documented, and resource-efficient software.
- Work with engineering leadership and the CTO to optimize the product and support customer and growth objectives.
- Investigate and remediate technical defects across the platform.
- Perform manual and automated operational procedures and ongoing maintenance for runtime systems.
- Recommend improvements to the product and software delivery process.
- Mentor engineers and help develop a high-performing engineering team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology, or relevant industry experience.
- At least 7 years of industry experience with an in-depth understanding of distributed systems.
- Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, high-throughput production systems, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including performance tuning.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure.
- Strong understanding of scalable distributed systems, web application security practices, and internetworking concepts and protocols.
- Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Knowledge of a modern software development lifecycle methodology such as Scrum.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms, and willingness to lead when necessary.
