Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements and translate them into AI-based solutions in collaboration with NRC and external experts.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain AI tools and agents.
  • Prepare technical documentation including data models, architecture patterns, Concept of Operations documents, and user guides.
  • Select, install, configure, test, and modify AI development tools and frameworks while ensuring programming and ethical AI standards.
  • Design and adapt AI solutions supporting digital construction capabilities such as digitalized construction codes.
  • Define use cases, requirements, target-state designs, and implementation plans with project teams and subject matter experts.
  • Document best practices, develop training materials, and mentor team members on data architecture and digital construction technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or a technical college diploma in Computer Science or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and direct experience may be considered.
  • Significant and recent experience designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions using Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models.
  • Significant and recent experience designing, developing, and implementing data and Retrieval Augmented Generation solutions.
  • Experience developing AI software solutions using modern programming languages, frameworks, and software development tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, data and Retrieval Augmented Generation pipelines, vector databases, and embeddings.
  • Knowledge of agentic AI, Model Context Protocol, harness, DevSecOps/MLOps, software deployment practices, API development, and solution integration.
  • Ability to research and analyze AI use cases, recommend solutions, and produce high-quality technical documentation and diagrams for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Asset experience with AI Agent solutions, knowledge graph-driven data, and Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines or similar version control and CI/CD tools.
  • English language proficiency and eligibility to obtain Reliability Status clearance, including five years of background verification.

  • Compensation is $103,911 to $130,061 per annum.

  • This is a three-year term position based in Ottawa with a hybrid arrangement combining onsite work and telework; alternative arrangements may be considered.
