Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend platform software for a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
- Develop with Python, Django, Ember, and PostgreSQL, including APIs, models, migrations, and SQL.
- Create well-designed, testable, efficient systems and maintain robust automated tests.
- Lead technical design initiatives and efforts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and production issues using logs and stack traces.
- Contribute through Git and GitHub pull-request-based delivery and use PRs to teach and learn.
- Collaborate with teammates and other functions in a geographically distributed remote environment.
- Share ownership of team dynamics, processes, and growth.
- Use AWS services, Docker, Redis, background jobs, authentication, feature flags, and CI/CD workflows as applicable.
Requirements
- Experience collaborating successfully in a remote environment.
- Proficiency with Python and Django, including REST APIs, models, and migrations.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and writing or reasoning about SQL.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS concepts, including tenant isolation and shared versus tenant data.
- Experience with Git, GitHub, and pull-request-based delivery.
- Experience using Docker for local development.
- Ability to write and maintain robust tests.
- Willingness to utilize AI in day-to-day work.
- Basic AWS experience, including S3, RDS, and containers.
- Strongly preferred: Django REST Framework or an equivalent API framework.
- Strongly preferred: dependency upgrade experience, Redis, background jobs, queues, scheduled work, GitHub Actions, authentication, OAuth, permissions, feature flags, and production debugging.
- Nice to have: AI-assisted software delivery, observability, Sentry, log platforms, tracing, Playwright or similar end-to-end testing, third-party integrator experience, e-commerce, POS, cart flows, JavaScript frameworks, payments, billing, and Stripe or similar services.
