Base Salary
$165k - $231k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the embedded Linux distribution and board support packages using Yocto or Buildroot, including board bring-up and reliable field updates.
- Own kernel configuration, device drivers, bootloader functionality, secure boot, and update and recovery paths.
- Design and maintain shared runtime libraries and interfaces for logging, telemetry, IPC, and configuration.
- Maintain the cross-compilation toolchain and SDK used by other engineering teams.
- Bring up new compute platforms from first power-on through production-ready OS images.
- Set Linux platform best practices and mentor engineers across teams.
Requirements
- Deep experience building and shipping products on custom Linux images using Yocto or Buildroot.
- Kernel-level competence with device drivers, device trees, and debugging kernel or boot failures on real hardware.
- Experience with U-Boot or similar bootloaders, including secure boot and safe update and recovery design.
- Strong C skills and scripting experience with Python or shell for platform tooling.
- Board bring-up experience taking a new SoC or SoM from schematic review to a stable, booting operating system.
- Experience designing and maintaining libraries, SDKs, or interfaces consumed by other engineering teams.
- Experience with radio or communications integration, PREEMPT_RT, latency analysis, OTA update systems, upstream contributions, Rust, or drones is preferred.
