Base Salary
$85k - $167k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Java and Spring Boot backend services, REST APIs, and microservices backed by SQL databases and BigQuery.
- Develop frontend features and reusable components with React or Angular and TypeScript for vehicle-data exploration.
- Create Kafka and Pub/Sub producers and consumers while handling retries, failed messages, and message ordering.
- Package and deploy applications with Docker to OpenShift and Google Cloud, including Cloud Run and GKE deployments, configuration, secrets, and health checks.
- Write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews and pairing, and contribute to test-driven development.
- Add logging, alerts, and dashboards; troubleshoot production issues using runbooks.
- Use Git, CI/CD tools, dependency updates, code-quality and security scans, secure coding, API security, and data privacy practices.
- Support AI initiatives by building assistant APIs and UIs, calling LLM APIs, exploring documentation-based assistants, and testing AI output for accuracy and safety.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, technical leads, product owners, data engineers, and platform teams to plan and ship work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of professional software engineering experience; strong internships or co-ops count.
- Hands-on experience building backend services or REST APIs in Java with Spring Boot.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Day-to-day Git experience and experience writing automated tests such as JUnit tests.
- Basic understanding of Docker and deploying applications to a cloud or container platform.
- Preferred qualifications include GCP, Cloud Run, GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Kafka, OpenShift, Kubernetes, CI/CD, code scanning, Terraform, monitoring, Python, AI/LLM applications, and IoT, telemetry, or time-series data experience.
- Preferred experience may include GitHub Actions, Tekton, Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx, FOSSA, Dynatrace, Grafana, Splunk, or hands-on AI projects such as RAG applications or agents.
