Responsibilities

  • Own Data DevOps frameworks, standards, schema versioning, migration workflows, deployment validation, environment promotion, and rollback across Snowflake and AWS Aurora/RDS.
  • Implement Snowflake CI/CD and database deployment automation using schemachange or equivalent tooling and automate Aurora/RDS migrations using Flyway or equivalent tools.
  • Establish reusable CI/CD patterns and quality gates for dbt and Apache Airflow/Amazon MWAA workloads.
  • Build Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps, deployment, configuration, and environment-provisioning capabilities across AWS Glue, S3, EKS, MWAA, DataHub, and Grafana.
  • Manage Kubernetes-based data-platform services and automate secrets, access controls, configuration, and infrastructure promotion.
  • Own monitoring, observability, alerts, runbooks, service-health measures, rollback, disaster recovery, and environment-recreation automation for shared data-platform services.
  • Implement least-privilege access, service identities, secrets management, auditability, and governance integrations with Security and Infrastructure teams.
  • Build reusable platform templates, modules, standards, and tooling; lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and improve reliability, performance, and cloud cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person university or college.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Data Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Production experience building and operating data platforms, including hands-on Snowflake schema management, security, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
  • Experience implementing database schema versioning and automated migration frameworks, with Flyway, Liquibase, Alembic, or equivalent tooling.
  • Experience implementing Snowflake CI/CD and schema deployment with schemachange or an equivalent approach.
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, CI/CD, and AWS data-platform experience including Aurora/RDS, S3, and Glue.
  • Experience with dbt, Apache Airflow, preferably Amazon MWAA, Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS, and deployment tooling such as Helm.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana and CloudWatch.
  • Strong scripting or software-development skills, preferably Python.
  • Strong understanding of data-platform reliability, security, deployment safety, backup, recovery, and production operations.
  • Preferred experience includes DataHub or similar metadata/catalog platforms, advanced Snowflake security and governance, data-quality frameworks, drift detection, AWS Secrets Manager, advanced IAM, disaster recovery, FinOps, and production SRE or on-call work.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex platform problems from design through production and a track record of commitment to prior employers.
