Responsibilities
- Build Atlas Migration Services and tooling, including data-movement and disaster-recovery features.
- Design and implement distributed backend systems, APIs, and services that address scalability, performance, reliability, and usability challenges.
- Work with product, design, and engineering teams to build customer-focused features.
- Solve difficult technical problems in distributed environments and contribute to engineering quality practices.
- Review code and feature designs, support production systems and customers, and mentor team members.
- Lead the design and development of at least one major feature as familiarity with the team’s products and codebase grows.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, primarily focused on backend systems.
- Experience writing distributed backend systems in a compiled language such as Java, C#, Go, or C++.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and experience designing APIs and services in a microservice environment.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with data streaming or replication, database systems, scalability, performance, reliability, or fault tolerance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a curious, collaborative, empathetic, and intellectually honest approach.
