Responsibilities
- Embed with Compliance leaders and frontline teams to identify high-leverage automation opportunities across regulatory workflows.
- Rapidly prototype compliance solutions using Coinbase’s existing AI platform before recommending new builds.
- Own the Compliance automation roadmap with the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance leadership.
- Translate case resolution, trade surveillance, risk assessment, and policy management workflows into engineering requirements and communicate engineering constraints to stakeholders.
- Define build-versus-buy decisions across internal builds, partner-team tools, vendors, and retiring systems.
- Design automated compliance outputs with auditability, approval gates, evidence retention, traceability, reviewability, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Drive adoption through brown-bags, prototype walkthroughs, and feedback loops with Compliance teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments; greenfield experience is a strong plus.
- Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design.
- Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts, learn complex workflows quickly, and translate them into engineering requirements.
- Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, case management, and audit-ready data handling.
- Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration, including agent handoffs, escalation, and auditability.
- Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or an embedded technical advisory role, ideally in compliance technology, RegTech, or financial services.
- Ability to use generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight and improving workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
