Base Salary
$143k - $304k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architecture of highly available, secure, and scalable AKS control-plane systems.
- Advance Kubernetes control-plane components including API servers, etcd, controllers, scheduling, networking, and workload lifecycle systems.
- Improve reliability through SLIs, SLOs, capacity planning, performance engineering, fault testing, telemetry, and automated recovery.
- Lead investigations of complex distributed-system failures and deliver durable platform improvements.
- Develop reusable frameworks, testing infrastructure, deployment automation, and operational tooling.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives, mentor engineers, influence upstream Kubernetes, and guide systems from design through production operations.
- Apply AI-assisted development and intelligent automation to engineering, diagnostics, incident response, and operational workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master's degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor's degree and 12+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with containers and Kubernetes, including control-plane components, scheduling, controllers, networking, storage, and workload lifecycle.
- Experience building and operating reliable distributed services with observability, safe deployment, automated recovery, and incident-response practices.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted engineering tools for design, implementation, testing, debugging, or operations.
- Networking troubleshooting experience across DNS, TCP/IP, TLS, load balancing, routing, proxies, packet capture, and connection-level telemetry.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is $142,800-$274,800 per year, with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position will remain open for at least five days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
