Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize motion-planning algorithms for trajectory generation, trajectory selection, behavior planning, and optimization-based planning.
- Develop planning solutions using graph search, sampling-based planning, spline and B-spline trajectories, convex optimization, and Frenet-frame approaches.
- Incorporate vehicle kinematic and dynamic constraints to ensure safe, feasible, and comfortable autonomous-vehicle behavior.
- Build production-quality software in modern C++ within Linux environments.
- Develop and execute validation strategies across Software-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop, and Vehicle-in-the-Loop environments.
- Collaborate with Safety, Controls, Perception, Validation, and Simulation teams on autonomous-driving behaviors.
- Investigate and debug vehicle behavior through simulation, system-performance analysis, vehicle integration, and post-deployment investigations.
- Contribute to architecture and technical design reviews, code reviews, deployment activities, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field with 5+ years of industry experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 3+ years or a PhD with 1+ year of experience.
- Strong proficiency in modern C++ development in Linux-based environments.
- Experience developing robotics, autonomous-vehicle, ADAS, or other complex real-time software systems.
- Strong experience with motion planning, trajectory generation or optimization, behavior planning, or decision-making systems.
- Understanding of vehicle dynamics, vehicle kinematics, trajectory feasibility, planning architecture, linear algebra, numerical optimization, geometry, and robotics algorithms.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, system design, scalable development practices, and the full software lifecycle through deployment and operational support.
- Strong system-level debugging, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience includes Model Predictive Control, convex or quadratic programming, nonlinear optimization, imitation or reinforcement learning, vehicle controls, state estimation, trajectory tracking, Python, simulation, ROS/ROS2, Autoware, Apollo, CUDA, GPU acceleration, TensorRT, and on-vehicle testing.
