Responsibilities
- Build cloud infrastructure from scratch using software development best practices.
- Ensure platform scalability and reliability for hundreds of global customers across North America, Europe, and Asia.
- Lead incident triage, mitigation, root-cause analysis, and periodic on-call escalation support.
- Develop automation and tools to eliminate manual work and reduce issue-resolution times.
- Perform full-stack diagnostics and determine the causes of production problems.
- Partner with engineering teams on large-scale system design and development decisions.
- Participate in design reviews and lead initiatives improving operational efficiency and platform scalability.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and QA to deliver customer value.
- Develop primarily backend systems with opportunities to contribute to frontend and infrastructure work.
- Communicate production issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences during outages.
- Mentor team members and contribute to a high-performing engineering environment.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of Java development experience, preferably in enterprise cloud software.
- Hands-on operational experience in high-volume or critical production services, including incident management and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to write clean, testable, readable, and maintainable code collaboratively.
- Hands-on experience with open-source technologies including Spring, MySQL, Hibernate, Solr, Maven, Git, Tomcat, Linux, AWS, Vagrant, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- At least 3 years of relational database experience with expert-level SQL skills.
- Scripting proficiency with Shell, Bash, Ansible, Python, Go, Ruby, or similar languages.
- Demonstrated incident-management leadership and communication skills across individual-contributor and executive audiences.
- A proven record of mentoring teammates and improving team effectiveness.
