Responsibilities
- Define the architecture of the GNC and flight software verification simulation environment.
- Set simulation milestones, development priorities, sprint priorities, and task assignments based on stakeholder needs and vehicle schedules.
- Direct day-to-day simulation development and ensure milestone delivery.
- Develop and execute simulation verification and validation plans.
- Support environment, vehicle, hardware, sensor, actuator, and fault-injection modeling at appropriate fidelity.
- Integrate simulations with GNC prototypes, software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop flight software, and automated test infrastructure.
- Perform hands-on simulation tool integration and performance improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience architecting and developing real-time or accelerated simulations of complex systems such as spacecraft, aircraft, automobiles, or robotic systems.
- Experience developing vehicle or subsystem models, operating environment models, and simulation infrastructure.
- Experience leading simulation development and integrating simulations with vehicle, embedded, or flight software in SIL, HIL, or similar test environments.
- Preferred experience with simulation V&V, Monte Carlo or statistical performance analysis, and real-time or accelerated simulation optimization.
- Preferred experience with vehicle dynamics, rigid-body or flexible-body dynamics, suspension systems, terramechanics, and numerical integration.
- Preferred experience developing extraterrestrial rover or planetary surface vehicle simulations and planetary environment models.
- Preferred experience modeling sensors, actuators, and associated error sources and implementing simulation fault injection.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Experience planning work scope, establishing technical milestones, and guiding simulation teams to successful delivery.
