Base Salary
$164k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and evolve backend systems supporting personalization and recommendation workloads at Spotify scale.
- Design reliable, scalable, and performant services for high-volume recommendation traffic.
- Build and improve infrastructure and pipelines for retrieving, ranking, and delivering personalized podcast recommendations.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Designers on recommendation experiences and experimentation strategies.
- Own backend systems across technical design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.
- Use experimentation and data to evaluate system changes and inform future development.
- Make architectural and engineering trade-offs for ambiguous technical problems and contribute to long-term personalization-system architecture.
- Share engineering knowledge and practices with teammates.
Requirements
- Experience building production systems with Java.
- Experience designing distributed, high-volume services and deploying, operating, and evolving them in production.
- Experience working with stakeholders to define requirements and design broadly adoptable APIs and systems.
- Strong understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Interest in large-scale data-processing technologies supporting personalized product experiences.
- Comfort working in an experimentation-focused environment with rapid learning and iteration.
- Ability to use data to inform technical and product decisions and evaluate the impact of engineering work.
- Experience with technologies such as gRPC, GCP, BigQuery, Bigtable, or similar tools and platforms.
