Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable cloud infrastructure using Terraform and drive infrastructure standardization initiatives.
- Build, optimize, and maintain infrastructure deployment pipelines while supporting DevOps and DevSecOps practices.
- Operate and evolve GCP data platform services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
- Design IAM and service-account access controls, enforce least-privilege principles, and improve the platform security posture.
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis, participate in the on-call rota, and reduce recurring platform issues.
- Develop and maintain the internal developer platform through catalog entries, scaffolder templates, and accurate TechDocs.
- Onboard data engineering and ML engineering services and pipelines into the platform catalog with correct ownership and metadata.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code for infrastructure authoring, code review, and documentation.
- Collaborate with finance, compliance, BI, data science, data engineering, and ML engineering stakeholders to translate needs into platform decisions.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of cloud infrastructure engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience designing and administering complex platforms in GCP at production scale.
- Working knowledge of networking concepts and services including VPC, VPCSC, and Direct Connect, plus IaaS and PaaS architectural patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and multi-environment configuration management across cloud providers.
- Experience building and maintaining GitLab pipelines, runners, and merge request workflows.
- Experience with Cloud IAM, access-control design, least-privilege principles, and security best practices.
- Experience working as a platform provider with data or ML engineering teams and making infrastructure usable.
- Ability to work consultatively with non-technical stakeholders, interpret requirements, challenge assumptions, and influence outcomes.
- AWS exposure, Backstage experience, data platform knowledge, Databricks experience, and professional use of AI coding assistants are preferred.
- Experience in regulated financial services environments is beneficial.
