Responsibilities
- Maintain Firefox Layout code covering CSS, page layout, APZ, text, and images.
- Fix bugs and regressions, keep tests green, and manage incoming issues across platforms.
- Perform code reviews and routine engineering upkeep so full-time engineers can focus on critical projects.
- Diagnose and resolve Layout issues across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.
- Participate in planning and web-compatibility and web-standards meetings as needed.
- Work independently and provide technical leadership in a large, mature codebase.
Requirements
- Strong C++ skills are required; JavaScript and/or Rust experience is a plus.
- Solid CSS and page-layout knowledge is required.
- Strong debugging and optimization skills in a multithreaded codebase are required.
- Ability to work independently and lead technically is required.
- Prior browser architecture and development experience is preferred.
- Prior web-standards experience, mobile web development, profiling, and debugging skills are preferred.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT for code investigation, development, debugging, or testing is a plus.
Benefits
- Contract position.
- Hiring ranges are CAD $185,045–$217,700 for Canada Tier 1 locations and CAD $131,400–$154,600 for Canada Tier 2 locations.
