Base Salary
$130k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain critical user-facing products and backend systems.
- Contribute to and evolve core backend architecture with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Collaborate with product, operations, and leadership to align technical solutions with business needs.
- Drive best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Shape engineering culture and contribute to hiring efforts, potentially mentoring other engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in web development.
- Strong backend development skills, preferably as a full stack engineer.
- Proven ability to create scalable solutions under tight deadlines.
- Experience with Ruby or similar backend languages, with a willingness to learn.
- Comfortable working across the stack, with React/Next.js and TypeScript preferred.
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs, including OAuth flows and webhooks.
- Track record of owning services in production and handling real incidents.
- Experience with AWS, Terraform, and general infrastructure is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
- Self-starter mentality suited for a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
- Empathy for end users, particularly low-to-moderate-income renters.
