Base Salary

$162k - $290k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical strategy and architecture for CAM’s predictive maintenance platform.
  • Design and implement predictive models and data products, moving prototypes into robust, monitored, continuously improving production systems.
  • Own and evolve distributed systems processing high-volume time-series and event data from Samsara devices and third-party sources.
  • Deliver end-to-end features across backend, web, and potentially mobile, including APIs, data models, business logic, and user interfaces.
  • Collaborate with product, design, ML, data, and customer-facing teams to define roadmaps and translate business problems into technical projects.
  • Measure product impact through outcomes such as reduced breakdowns, fewer emergency repairs, and improved shop throughput.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, technical coaching, and engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of software design and development experience, including building and operating production systems at scale.
  • 3+ years building data-intensive or ML-backed products such as forecasting, anomaly detection, recommendation, or other predictive-modeling systems.
  • Deep proficiency in Python for backend and data/ML-related services.
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems or large-scale microservices, including event-driven architectures, time-series storage, and streaming or batch data pipelines.
  • Experience leading cross-team or cross-organization projects from inception through rollout and delivering measurable business impact.
  • Strong communication skills for translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence is preferred.
  • Expertise with time-series data, forecasting, feature engineering, evaluation, and productionization is preferred.
  • Hands-on MLOps experience with model deployment, monitoring, versioning, and experimentation platforms is preferred.
  • Full-stack development experience with Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, GraphQL, or similar technologies is preferred.
  • Industrial, fleet, or equipment data experience and a record of mentoring senior engineers are preferred.
