$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components.
- Define scalability, performance, durability, availability, and service-level requirements for owned components.
- Optimize systems and data paths for large-scale processing and high-throughput workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, consistency and partition-handling strategies, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards and alerting to monitor system health.
- Design correctness, fault-injection, brownout, replication, and synchronization scenarios.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in operational support rotations, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud compliance documentation.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code automation and change-management processes for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Coordinate moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor junior team members, participate in interviews, and recommend process improvements.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to develop and architect scalable distributed systems for horizontal and vertical scaling.
- Experience optimizing high-throughput systems and large-scale data processing paths.
- Experience designing fault-tolerant, durable, and highly available systems with replication, failover, and synchronization.
- Experience with performance and load testing, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, and complex fault-injection validation.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems and participating in incident response or operational support.
- Experience implementing security controls, remediation, encryption, access controls, and compliance practices in multi-tenant cloud environments.
- Experience developing infrastructure-as-code automation and managing patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Ability to coordinate moderately complex projects, provide technical oversight, collaborate across teams, mentor engineers, and contribute to hiring.
- Ability to pursue continuous learning and improve engineering processes and workflows.

- U.S. hiring range is $114,600 to $234,600 per year; the role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
