Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases and scalable data-tier solutions.
- Review and govern T-SQL, stored procedures, deployment scripts, and database design patterns.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, partitioning, and related techniques.
- Implement and manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups for high availability, resilience, and fault tolerance.
- Troubleshoot production issues including blocking, deadlocks, slow queries, SQL Agent job failures, and database bottlenecks.
- Create, schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot SQL Server Agent Jobs.
- Support data integration using SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
- Upgrade, patch, and monitor SQL Server environments using tools including DPA and Extended Events.
- Define database standards, governance, capacity planning, cost optimization, backup strategies, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity plans with TechOps.
- Provide database design and performance guidance to application development teams and perform root-cause analysis for critical incidents.
Requirements
- Requires 6–8+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server experience.
- Requires strong SQL Server development skills and advanced T-SQL knowledge.
- Requires extensive experience reviewing and optimizing SQL code, stored procedures, and database deployment scripts.
- Requires strong knowledge of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies.
- Requires production support and troubleshooting experience with blocking, deadlocks, query performance, SQL Agent jobs, and database bottlenecks.
- Requires expertise in query optimization, execution plan analysis, and indexing strategies.
- Preferred experience includes SSIS package development and maintenance, Azure Data Factory, SSRS Reporting Services, cloud-based database environments, and NoSQL databases.
- Preferred familiarity includes Azure DevOps/TFS and SAFe Agile environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, root-cause analysis, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills are preferred.
