Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend product features and services across the software engineering lifecycle.
- Shape backend architecture and build scalable APIs, integrations, and data-processing systems.
- Use AWS Lambda and Fargate for jobs and batch processing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to define requirements and deliver high-quality software.
- Create technical design documentation and provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds.
- Apply software development best practices, design patterns, testing, automation, coding standards, and large-scale system design principles.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform triage and root-cause analysis, and implement short- and long-term mitigations.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and project feedback.
- Partner with senior leadership to translate technical vision into quarterly roadmaps and support a collaborative learning culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, or applicable experience.
- 8–12 years of software development experience with server-side applications, API servers, third-party integrations, and data processing.
- Expertise in a compiled language such as Go, Java, or Kotlin is required.
- Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring, is required.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable APIs, database designs, design patterns, and testing best practices.
- Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes is preferred.
- High-growth startup experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, forecast delivery milestones, collaborate with stakeholders, and operate comfortably amid ambiguity.
