Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain scripts, utilities, and applications on AIX platforms.
- Translate functional requirements into technical designs and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and applications.
- Perform advanced AIX administration, including installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Manage backups, recovery procedures, disaster recovery solutions, system security, firewalls, and federal security controls.
- Develop automation using Korn Shell, Bash, Python, and Perl for operational tasks, deployments, reporting, and system health checks.
- Provide expert support, root-cause analysis, and resolution for complex AIX system and application issues, including participation in on-call rotations.
- Participate in security audits, vulnerability remediation, compliance activities, and federal privacy and data protection efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or additional relevant experience in lieu of the degree depending on role requirements and demonstrated expertise.
- At least 3 years of professional AIX System Administrator or AIX Developer experience.
- Advanced proficiency in shell scripting, including Korn Shell and Bash, plus at least one additional language such as Python or Perl.
- In-depth knowledge of AIX internals, including JFS2, GPFS, LVM, networking, and process management.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex system and application issues in AIX environments.
- Understanding of security vulnerabilities and best practices for securing AIX systems in federal environments.
- Some experience with networking and SAN environments, including enterprise troubleshooting and storage integration.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Preferred qualifications include federal or Indian Health Service experience, RPMS familiarity, Oracle or DB2 experience, SAN and fiber channel knowledge, AIX virtualization experience with LPARs or VIOS, cloud concepts, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, CI/CD pipelines, and relevant certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator - AIX, CompTIA Security+, or ITIL Foundation.
