Responsibilities
- Lead frontend technical initiatives, architecture strategy, and technical direction for the Web Foundation team.
- Define React and Next.js strategy, build system evolution, component architecture, middleware approaches, performance optimization, and design system patterns.
- Prototype, debug, validate, and document architectural ideas, including emerging web technologies and tooling.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews, mentor engineers, and establish quality standards through feedback.
- Collaborate with backend, platform, security, product, and engineering teams on API contracts, middleware design, and cross-team technical decisions.
- Communicate trade-offs, facilitate alignment, remove blockers, and influence web architecture across H&M.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of software engineering experience with proven team leadership and architectural decision-making.
- Experience leading initiatives and serving in a tech lead role on large-scale web platforms.
- Deep expertise in frontend and web architecture, including component composition, state management, performance optimization, bundler configuration, and code splitting.
- Production experience with React.js, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js.
- Experience diagnosing and improving performance across bundle size, Core Web Vitals, network waterfalls, and rendering.
- Experience writing RFCs, design documents, or architectural decision records and influencing technical direction.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, collaboration, mentoring, and cross-organizational alignment skills.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library.
- Nice-to-have experience with middleware layers, API contracts, caching, error handling, Azure or another cloud platform, AI-assisted tools or agents, and security-sensitive code involving authentication and authorization.
