Responsibilities
- Design and code product features, combining visual design, UX, and technical implementation.
- Work on Ashby’s most challenging design problems.
- Expand and enhance the in-house design system.
- Build flexible, composable components for consistent product experiences.
- Consult with Product Engineers on bespoke design work and improve information hierarchy and scannability.
- Research problems, write product specifications, create wireframes, and implement solutions end to end.
- Ship quickly, gather feedback from users and Ashby’s internal recruiting team, and iterate on released work.
- Participate in customer issues and investigations distributed across the engineering team.
- Collaborate through research, prototyping, written proposals, pair programming, and design-system specifications.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of continuous industry experience as an engineer or designer; internships do not count.
- Good proficiency in both design and engineering, with exceptional proficiency in the discipline practiced full time.
- Experience designing products and shipping code to hundreds of users, including through side projects.
- Good proficiency with TypeScript, React, and CSS.
- Backend technology proficiency is a plus.
- Strong visual design taste and execution are expected.
- Candidates should be comfortable with rapid shipping, iterative feedback, minimal process, and owning projects end to end.
