Base Salary
$94k - $142k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve architectures for cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven platforms.
- Create high-level and low-level designs, integration patterns, API contracts, and reference implementations.
- Lead design reviews, architectural forums, coding standards, code reviews, and secure-by-default practices.
- Lead engineering squads through discovery, proof-of-concept work, production delivery, and SRE handoff.
- Build and optimize core services using Java, Spring Boot, REST, GraphQL, and event streaming.
- Drive testing, test-data strategy, automated quality gates, performance, concurrency, observability, and operational excellence.
- Design cloud, container orchestration, service mesh, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, secrets management, and platform integrations.
- Architect SQL, NoSQL, caching, and event-stream integrations with data contracts, schema evolution, and consistency strategies.
- Embed application security, secure API and authentication practices, zero-trust patterns, and applicable compliance controls.
- Mentor and coach senior engineers, support technical-leader succession, and communicate architecture trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Apply knowledge of MCP, A2A, and agentic architecture.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience building enterprise systems and 7+ years of Java and Spring experience at scale.
- Proven delivery experience with cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong expertise with Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, REST/GraphQL APIs, Kafka or Pulsar, Kubernetes, Docker, relational and NoSQL databases, Redis, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability tooling.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB; GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins; and Terraform or ARM.
- Knowledge of concurrency, performance tuning, resiliency patterns, fault tolerance, architectural forums, design reviews, and mentorship.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience includes payments, banking, capital markets, insurance, e-commerce, supply chain, or telecom domains.
- Preferred security experience includes threat modeling, shift-left security, SAST/DAST, secrets rotation, and mTLS.
- Preferred data experience includes CDC, schema registries, exactly-once semantics, and streaming ETL.
- Preferred platform experience includes service mesh, API gateways, serverless platforms, CQRS, event sourcing, Saga orchestration, and hexagonal architecture.

- Primary location salary range of $94,300.00-$141,500.00.
