Responsibilities
- Own features and components of global payment systems through design, implementation, testing, deployment, documentation, and production operation.
- Design scalable software solutions and make implementation and architectural tradeoffs.
- Work directly with product managers and finance, tax, and accounts payable stakeholders to clarify business needs.
- Ship payment changes incrementally through staged rollouts and measurement.
- Reduce operational work through code fixes and self-healing mechanisms.
- Improve system maintainability and extensibility through clear documentation and durable design choices.
- Review code, mentor earlier-career engineers, and help onboard new teammates.
- Use and direct AI agents for system exploration, design, code generation and review, testing, production issue triage, and operational automation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- 1+ years designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- 1+ years of object-oriented design experience.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- Preferred: 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: experience contributing to system architecture and design, debugging and profiling large-scale systems, applying software engineering best practices, using cloud computing or web services, and using AI-assisted development tools.
