Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Athena databases on AWS.
- Monitor database performance and health, proactively resolving issues.
- Design and implement growth strategies for database scalability.
- Develop and maintain high security standards for sensitive PHI data.
- Ensure compliance with database privacy regulations like HIPAA and SOC2.
- Design and implement Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
- Develop a pipeline to restore anonymized data to lower environments.
- Collaborate with security teams for risk analysis and response.
- Provide architectural design recommendations to support new features.
- Work with Data Engineering to maintain and troubleshoot ETL jobs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Database Administration.
- BS or advanced degree in computer science or related field.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
- Deep understanding of AWS Database services, especially RDS and Aurora.
- Ability to identify performance bottlenecks for query optimization.
- Experience with modern monitoring tools like Cloudwatch and DataDog.
- Familiarity with change management practices and policies.
- Experience with infrastructure automation and systems reliability.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations like GDPR and HIPAA.
- Strong scripting skills in SQL, Python, and Shell.
