Base Salary
$131k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide technical vision, leadership, and solution design for complex application development initiatives.
- Design scalable, efficient, maintainable, and integrated software solutions based on business requirements.
- Develop and troubleshoot complex Java software, RESTful and SOAP APIs, and high-risk features.
- Lead technical design, development, implementation, modernization, and migration efforts.
- Participate in unit testing, system integration testing, development reviews, walkthroughs, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and promote engineering best practices, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Document design decisions, estimates, technical assumptions, code modules, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve workflows, data utilization, reliability, efficiency, and user experience.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience analyzing complex software and systems, communicating technical information, and developing multiple solution approaches.
- Demonstrated experience developing complex software with one or more programming languages and estimating software project scope and effort.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to less experienced staff.
- Extensive knowledge of RESTful development standards, infrastructure technologies, operating systems, application architecture, and the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive application development experience with Java and modern Java-based frameworks such as Spring Boot and Spring.
- Experience using Claude for code reviews, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Experience leading technical design, development, and implementation across complex software solutions.
- Experience building API-first RESTful and SOAP services and service-oriented or microservices-based architectures.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform; DevOps practices and tools; Docker; and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, code reviews, and automated testing.
- Experience working with DB2 and NoSQL databases and resolving technical issues across development, test, and production environments.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, experience working in Agile environments, and preferably experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry.
