Base Salary
$135k - $202k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software systems using Python and Rust.
- Architect scalable backend services, APIs, data models, asynchronous communication, and distributed software components.
- Build systems for experimentation, prototyping, data processing, automation, and cloud-connected applications.
- Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders to solve ambiguous technical problems.
- Lead technical design discussions and mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Improve code quality, testing, observability, performance, deployment, and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python or Rust, with experience in at least one and willingness to learn the other.
- A track record of architecting, building, and delivering complex software systems.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, design patterns, data structures, and distributed systems.
- Experience with backend services, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, cloud-native applications, asynchronous and concurrent systems, databases, data models, schema design, ORMs, migrations, and storage systems.
- Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills.
- Strong communication, cross-disciplinary collaboration, autonomy, and ability to work in ambiguous environments.
- Experience with async runtimes, task queues, message-driven systems, non-blocking I/O, cancellation, retries, timeouts, and backpressure is desired.
- A background in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, optimization, signal processing, numerical methods, or a related quantitative discipline is desired.
- Industry experience with software-hardware interfacing, productizing algorithms, or data science is desired.
- Experience with functional programming languages or functional programming concepts is a plus.
- MSCS with at least 8 years of relevant software engineering experience, or BSCS with 10 years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver software systems of significant scope and complexity and provide technical leadership and mentorship.
